Well, here we are at week 3. This can be a challenging week. Some of the novelty of the new camp session can begin to wear off. The reality of getting up so early as a commitment sets in. You may wish that you were seeing bigger change or faster change. Remember that we are trying to create a lasting and permanent shift in your health, fitness, body, and abilities. This takes time and consistency. In the beginning, we tend to have broad goals, like finish the workout, come to camp each day or drink more water. As we continue, the goals can become more focused such as increase the number of push-ups completed in one minute from 12 to 15 without sacrificing form, push cardio vascular system to be able to confidently sign up for a race or firm up the thighs. Begin to think of your fitness like a sculptor working on a masterpiece. In the beginning, a sculptor takes off big pieces of marble. Change is evident, but the result is not necessarily compelling. It is over time that the sculptor begins to fine tune the work. Progress is slower. Every detail is significant. Each movement is more finessed and focused. It is only then that the original goal or vision really begins to be evident. The sculpture transforms. Both parts of the process are essential. In the beginning or "newbie stage", changes are happening, but sometimes without showing much indication of where things are going. In the more focused or "vet stage", change may appear to be excruciatingly slow at times, but is powerful and full of purpose. Whichever stage you face right now, recognize that it has its own challenges and victories. Recommit to discovering this part of your own transformation. As always, rely on everyone at camp to encourage and help you through! See you in the morning, dark and early.
